Summer vacation is almost over and yesterday was the last day of Little TP’s football camp. It was a twice a week, two-month program by Alaska, a popular milk brand and also a corporation known for their commitment to support sports activities for the youth. The camp director is a former professional Spanish football player, Tomas Lozano and the coaches are former and present members of the National Football Team and United Football League 1st Division players.
He was supposed to enroll in a swimming class this summer but we let him try football since he enjoys open spaces and running. We ended up signing for the summer program and we got the morning schedule at Emperador Stadium, a nice venue using astro turf. Little TP also got the chance to play on real grass field at Army/Ascom Football Field and at the Alabang Country Club.
It was a good experience for him because he was introduced to a new sport, learned something about discipline and teamwork and gained new friends. His team won during the tournament for their age group and he was very happy when he received a medal. Though sometimes he didn’t listen to the coaches’ instructions, I think he picked up a thing or two about determination and hard work too.
