Outreach Project for Street Children

Outreach Project for Street Children

For the past years, my friends and I have participated in various outreach programs, medical missions and other tutorial sessions for street children. This time we decided to organize our own fund raising event and host a Halloween party on October 30, 2010 for the kids of Virlanie Foundation, Inc., our recipient organization.

Virlanie serves as a home for children in need of special protection. This non-government organization provides help to hundreds of children who are poor, abandoned, abused, exploited, neglected and orphaned. The group we are helping consists of 50 children, with ages 3-12 years old. Our little project aims to raise funds so we can give these kids learning materials, toys, basic toiletries and medicines.

Our original plan was actually a toy drive wherein we’ll gather enough toys to give to the children. But then I realized, why not give them more than toys? I talked to my friends and they were all excited to help. I got a few pledges from family and friends and I’d also like to ask for your help if you want to share your blessings with these children.

I’m hoping to raise at least $500 by October 20 from this fund raising effort through ToyPusher.com. You may donate either via PayPal or bank deposit. Kindly send me an email if you are interested to help and I’ll give you more details. I encourage you spread the word about this and ask your friends or other people you know to donate as well.

As a way of saying thank you, I’ll be giving away a Nendoroid Snow Miku and a figma Black Rock Shooter to two people with the highest amount solicited for this project. So go ahead and ask your friends to help you. This is definitely for a good cause. I guess you’ll always be reminded of your kindness and how you made a lot of children happy every time you look at that Snow Miku or BRS figma. ^^

I’m also encouraging you to do the same in your area if you have the chance. I’d be happy to spread the word too and help you get more support. Thank you very much and I hope to hear from all of you.

Edit: I removed the PayPal donate button because I just found out that PayPal is charging a fee for every donation made. Please send your PayPal donations to wecare@toypusher.com instead, with the word Donation as your subject.

Special thanks to Omniclone Toys for sponsoring figma BRS and offering a discount for Snow Miku. ^^

Sometimes we take for granted the things that are so basic to us, but people elsewhere don’t have access to those same things. I’ve sent you a small donation through paypal, I hope it helps.

      Hi Nopy.
I’m guilty of that too. We are a lot fortunate than these kids and should be thankful but there are times that I complain a lot :(

Thank you very much for your donation. May you continue to be a blessing to others. We really appreciate your help. ^^

hey there! Came here from rockleelotus. Very nice effort there. Unfortunately I’m not in a position where I am able to donate tho since I’m kinda studying overseas and each cent counts. But I’ll try to spread the word around. Hopefully that would work. Good luck with the project ^^

You and your friends are so noble, Xine.
I still have no Paypal now, so all I could do is to spread your words.

I’ll add this to my blog soon.

We created an announcement in the forum to help generate activity for your outreach program.

    It’s in this link: http://otakaifiguresociety.org/index.php?topic=1353.0

We, as an anime community, are definitely much more fortunate, so I think that it makes sense to just give a little bit that will translate to helping a lot.

I’ve sent a small donation too, and hope that it will help. You have my full support. Good luck!

BTW, if anyone is sending money, mark it as Gift so that toypusher won’t incur a transaction fee. You’ll incur the fee instead, but it’s a small amount, and every little bit helps.

    1. xine says:

Thank you, Radiant! I’m really happy that we’re getting a lot of support from my online friends. It means a lot to me and of course to those kids. ^^

I will try to get the word out for other people to donate but in all honesty I’m in a pinch money-wise right now so I can’t really participate even though I’d like to. It’s great seeing what you’re doing though, and I hope you’re able to raise more than that $500.

    1. xine says:

Thank you, Persocom. Spreading the word about this project is a big enough help. ^^

  9. Yi says:

I will do my best to try to spread the word. I really wish I could contribute, but unfortunately I don’t make any money. :(

I wish the project the best.
